LOW RPM ALTERNATOR FOR WIND TURBINE
Small wind turbines are one of the most adaptable, flexible and easy to use technologies for generating sustainable and cheap electricity: for this reason market demand is exploding right now.
Unfortunately, the market for this application is affected by the lack of industrialised components with a specific designed performance.
New turbine producers usually have to design all the parts, increasing the costs and inflating the time to market.
In order to satisfy this particular application, MeccAlte decided to fill the gap in the current generator industry and to design a new series of low rpm alternators for wind turbines focused on this new application.
The Eogen series, ranging from 400W to 5kW, has been consequently designed with the latest technology available and the Njorgen series, ranging from 5kW to 20kW, is completing the great success found by the Eogen series.
By means of the oversized double bearing design, Eogen and Njorgen are the perfect solution both for vertical and horizontal wind turbines as it can be used as a rotating hub for the blades, which result is the better solution for the integrator.

LOW RPM PERMANENT MAGNET GENERATOR (PMG)
Unlike traditional AC alternator systems, a Permanent Magnet Generator allows considerable benefits. Physical benefits with reductions in weight and length, coupled with electronic benefits, ensure a superior technology devised to maximise efficiency of the complete power system.
Our Permanent Magnet Generator has an inbuilt EMC filter which works in a system with a single phase inverter. Harmonic Distortion is very low at <2% giving superior waveform, meaning that our low rpm permanent magnet generators help you guarantee the safe operation of modern sensitive electronic equipment.
When using our low rpm pmg generators, power density is increased using inverter technology, where the traditional excitation winding systems are replaced and the stator is central with an external rotor. This maximises the potential of the magnets used.
Mecc Alte pioneered the technological benefits of the MAUX (Mecc Alte Auxiliary). However, some traditional users still occasionally request a Permanent Magnet Generator option. A PMG is an additional pilot excitation system derived from a permanent magnet generator driven from the main alternator shaft.
Our philosophy is to use uncomplicated systems which means that, until the introduction of the digital regulator, we would require several different AVRs and consequently could see no benefit in offering a PMG option.
